There are many pilgrim centers in Kerala which are visited by pilgrims from different parts of India. Some of the important pilgrim centers in Kerala are as follows.
Sabarimala : The temple at Sabrimala has the largest number of pilgrims visiting any pilgrim centre in Kerala. This temple is situated in Pathanamthitta district of Kerala. It is located deep inside the forest on top of a hill. To reach Sabarimala pilgrims have to travel by foot several kilometers.
Malayatoor : This is a pilgrim centre for Christians. It is believed by Christians that St.Thomas one of the disciple of Jesus Christ sat and prayed at hill top in Malaytoor. A church is located here and many pilgrims come here every year.
Vaavarupally : This mosque is located in Erumely. It is located in Kottayam district of Kerala. Pilgrims who travel to Sabarimala visit this mosque.
Guruvayoor : This temple is located in Thrissur district of Kerala. Many pilgrims come here for pilgrimage. In this same town there is a place known as Anakkottil where it is possible to see about 75 elephants together in one place.
Sivagiri : This pilgrim centre is located in Kollam district of Kerala. The tomb of Sree Narayana Guru, one of the greatest social reformers in Kerala is in Sivagiri.
Parumala : It is in the church in Parumala that a saint Mar Gregorious was buried. This place is located in Parumala in Pathanmthitta district.
Kalady : This is the birth place of Adi Shankaracharya, who was born in the 8th century A.D. This place is located in Kalady town which is approximately 5km from Cochin international airport.
Kothamangalam Church : The tomb of Eldho Mar Baselious, a saint who arrived from present day Iraq about 330 years is in this Church.
Vadakkumnathan temple : This temple is located in Thrissur town. Every year Thrissur pooram festival is held in front of the temple. This festival is a procession consisting of elephants, fireworks, drum beats and hundreds of people.
Bharananganam: This pilgrim centre is located in Kottayam district of Kerala. This is a pilgrim centre for Christians. It is in the church in Bharnganam that Alphonsama the saint was buried.
