Munnar : This is the most prominent hill station in Kerala and the one of the major tourist attraction in the state. This hill station attracts more tourists than any other hill station in Kerala. Situated between the three rivers Munnar has a large number of hotels, resorts and other accommodation facility for tourists. It has the largest number of accommodation facilities in any hill station in Kerala. The major advantage is that it is the nearest hill station from Kochi airport/railway station. In three and half hours it is possible to reach Munnar from Kochi airport. The major attractions here are the tea estates, boating and the highest peak in south India is located close to Munnar.
Thekkady : This is the second most popular hill station in Kerala. This place is located near border with Tamil Nadu. This is also the best place in Kerala to see wild animals in their natural habitat. Although this hill station is 145 km from Kochi airport it is only 107 km from kottayam railway station. The major attraction in Thekkady is the boating in Thekkady lake to see wild animals. Accommodation is available in Kumily town which is very close to Thekkady.
Vagamon : This is another hill station where many tourists visit. However, the number of tourists visiting Vagamon is comparatively less as the place is still not commercially exploited. There are many resorts in Vagamon for tourists to stay. This place is mainly known for the green meadows and pine trees. This place is also suitable for paragliding. Paragliding events are conducted once a year.
Wayanad : This hill station is located on the northern east part of Kerala about 100km from Kozhikode airport. This hill station also has many tourist attractions. Although landscape has very beautiful places to see the place has not been completely exploited.
